#Trending: Shirt style Choli with Lehenga skirt

Style trends keep evolving to suit the tastes of changing times. Modernizing ethnic wear is one very popular current trend and indo-western fusion wear is preferred by most indian women these days for  a traditional look with a touch of  contemporary style. Styling a flowy lehenga skirt with a shirt is the new in thing in weddings these days.

Anushka Sharma in ADHM was spotted in a lehenga paired with crisp white shirt for her mehendi look in the song 'cutiepie '. I loved this chic lehenga look instantly which is equal parts modern and equal parts traditional. The layered jewellery on the shirt blouse gives a more dressed up wedding appropriate outfit. You can try this lehenga skirt and shirt choli combination for your friends wedding, sisters sangeet or your own mehendi!

If you want a youthful and fun ethnic look then this hatke pairing of shirt style Choli with Lehenga skirt is just Purrr-fect. Anushka Sharma isnt the first to be spotted in this shirt-lehenga combination and this idea has been pretty popular at fashion weeks before.

Pair your lehenga and shirt blouse with extravagant rani haars and knot the shirt on your waist for a more hip funk look.

This is also a nice way to re use your wedding Lehenga. Just use a crisp shirt from your wardrobe and pair it with your lehenga, also skip the dupatta.

The lehenga and shirt pairing can also be worn to work

Alia bhat was spotted in a similar shirt style choli

What do you think of Shirt style Choli with Lehenga skirt Would you wear it?

#TrendAlert - Metallic Oxfords

Oxford shoes are quite a rage with women these days. Normal flats are just too simple, so when your feet crave comfort opt for the chic Oxfords and now the metallic trend is here to jazz things up a bit more .

I spotted many celebrities like alia bhat and Athiya shetty wearing metallic oxfords and I think this is perfect blend of comfort and style.

Metallic oxfords are high on glam, so this trend can be worn as casual wear or even for parties. Best way to wear this trend is to pair them with basics. A white shirt paired with denims and copper toned metallic oxfords will give you a well balanced causal look. If you are the experimental kind you can pair your LBD with silver metallic oxfords and party in comfort and glam. I even came across a bride who wore metallic oxfords under her lehenga, amazing winter wedding footwear option I tell you!

In cities like Bangalore where the weather is pretty unpredictable for most part of the year oxfords are a blessing. Oxford shoes arent fully open like your chappals or even close and stuffy like boots , perfect wear when you cant guess if it will rain of remain sunny.

What do you think of the metallic oxfords trend? Like? Love? hate? Tell me !

Stay trendy

7 Fun ways to Rock the Cape Trend with Ethnic wear

The cape trend was first spotted on Sonam Kapoor when she made an appearance at Cannes Red carpet in a cape saree and ever since capes have been see here there and every where in the Indian fashion scene.

Want to get noticed without trying too hard at the next wedding you attend? cape is your answer. Pairing a cape with lehenga or saree is the most effortless way to stad out without coming across as looking to upstage the bride.  This is one trend which will bring eye balls on you and all in a good way

Here are 7 fun ways to rock the amazing cape trend.

Reinvent the Saree with cape:
Want to up your saree game, make it look contemporary with a traditional touch? try the cape saree trend.
Drape your saree the normal way and add a sheer cape in contrasting colour over it. Easy peasy, no accessories requied you are good to go. You can even add a necklace like Sonam did at cannes.

cape on a lehenga:
When it comes to weddings lehengas are etrenal favourites. Add a dash of sash to your lehenga look by skipping the dupatta and opting for a cape . Tada! blend of modern and tradition.

Keep it cool in cape and dhoti pants:
Free flowing silhouttes are super welcome in summers. Pair your breezy dhoti pants with a cape and go indo western the chic way.

Sharara and a cape:
Shararas and Palazzos are coming back in trend , so why not go a step ahead pair wo hot trend ? the cape and the sharara can be paired to bring about a unique ethnic look. See how sonali gupta pairs this yellow cape and sharara for inspiration.

 An anarkali cape:
Anarkalis are pretty much everywhere so the best way to stand out when wearing an anarkali is to bring in variations. You can pair a cape with your anarkali.but this has to be done very carefully or it will end up looking  funny.
If the anarkali has work at the bust area, go for a sheer capeto show off the work yet be different. if the anarkali is plain in the neck area adda solid cape in contrasting colour . You can even add a cape in rich fabric like raw silk to bring about a regal feel.
If all this feels too much of an experiment for you then just buy an anarkali with an attached cape.

Dramatic cape twist to your gown:
Indo western gowns got more drama and layer thanks to the addition of capes. Zuhair Murad has been churning out gowns with cape details and there is no reason to not wear this combination to an indian wedding

Sheer Delight:
The best way to really pair a cape with ethnic wear is to keep it sheer. This works well if you have tones arms and flat belly, show them off in style. !

Which way will you be rocking the cape trend?

Trend Alert : Saree with a Double Pallu

Style queen Sonam kapoor loves trying new things and sparking off new trends. The cape saree trend which is a rage these days was first spotted on Sonam kapoor at the cannes film festival and now Sonam Kapoor is out giving saree a new twist with a double pallu.

Promoting her latest movie Neerja Sonam kapoor was spotted in Abu jani sandeep khosla saree featuring a double pallu not once but twice.

Giving us the first sighting of double palla as Rhea kapoor calls it, was Sonam kapoor wearing a white and red saree where the first pallu was draped normally and the second one went around the neck like most of us drape a dupatta or scarf. Heavy eye make up, earrings from Amrapalli  and hair in a gajra finished out this look. I like this look but with so much fabric and drama going on with the drape I wish sonam had skipped the gajra in hair .

In a powder blue floral saree from Abu jani sandeep khosla Sonam again did the double pallu a wee bit casual way draping the second palla business like over the shoulder. I like this look better than the first one because styling here is perfection. The soft curls, silver earrings from Sunita kapoor and mirror work blouse all fit in well with this look .  This look may come across has a mature one but the blouse with a sexy back puts in the required oomph, stunningly pretty.

Saree is no doubt sensuous but handling even a single pallu is a difficult task for most of us and Sonam shows us how to breezily carry off two pallas. In an age where the saree is being modernized to make the draping easy with pre stitched versions like saree gown and dhoti saree, would you try this all new double pallu style ?

I think this style is ideal for a winter wedding where one wants to go bling free but still add drama with a saree. Waiting to see if this trend becomes a rage like the cape saree became. what id your take on the saree with double pallue , Fab or drab?

Modernizing the Saree: 10 new ways to wear the saree

The stunning stylish saree is an iconic piece of indian culture and tradition. The sari has been there for like forever reinventing and evolving itself and surviving the tests of time. The younger generation now doesnt shy away from wearing a sari for parties or traditional dos , infact Sonam kapoor last year moved away from the usual gowns and dresses and walked cannes red carpet in a contemporary draped 6 yard Anamika khanna sari .

new ways to drape the saree

Indian fashion designers have always tried to experiment with the saree trying everything from draping it over dhotis, pants, adding in belts, waistcoats and jackets . Here lets talk about some trendy ways the sari drape had revamped itself to suit the tastes of modern indian women.

Dhoti Saree : Popularized by sonam kapoor the dhoti saree is quite a rage these days with bollywood celebs. Just use your solid coloured plain saree to drape it in dhoti style for a indo-western effect. If you are comfortable draping the mahrastrian saree then this should be a easy deal for you but if you arent you should just google for tutorial or get help from your parlour lady.

The sari gown : The ultimate fusion wear , a sari gown isnt exactly a way to wear the saree but is a pre draped ready made saree. This is the most preferred way to wear a sari these days because of the comfort it offers, all you have to do is zip it and you are good to go . This is totally worth investing.

Saree with a belt : Adding a traditional kamarband to the saree isnt anything new but now is a time for revamp. Replace the kamarband with your western belt and watch your saree look transform. For added effect pair a plain saree with a metallic belt and printed blouse.

Pant saree: skip your petticoat and drape your saree over a pair of leggings or fitted pants for an indo western twist. You will need a smaller saree for this drape or you can just buy a pre draped ready made pant saree for added comfort

Peplum saree :  If peplum is a trend you already like then show more love to it by pairing it with your saree. Just get your favourite peplum top out and drape your saree over it , under it or even in a gujrati style .  Peplum saree is a great way to add drama and stand out but make sure you tone down on the accessories.

Drape with an offbeat blouse : Draping it in a different way is not the only way to revamp your saree. Ditch your traditional blouse and pair your saree with an offbeat blouse to give it a modern twist. Opt for a crop top, jacket, bolero, corset or capes and spice up your old saree.

saree with jacket, waistcoat or corsetThe quirky printed way: Prints are tootally in and masaba gupta just made them more quirky. Lipsticks, cows, hands , fans any and everything is allowed in here . Just grab some prints in bright colours for added effect and splash a wedding or a festival in style

Cape it: I loved it when samantha wore a cape over her saree and ever since capes have become quite popular in ethnic wear so it is the right time to try the cape saree trend. Invest in a cape and add it over your saree and skip the neck piece. For added effect make sure your cape is sheer, lacy or netted.

Cross wrap it : use your regular printed saree to drape in a crossed way over a full sleeves blouse or a crop top and cinch with a belt for more polished look . Watch this video here for tutorial on how to do this.

Jumpsuit Saree:
This saree trend hasnt been too popular but if you are a jumpsuit person this is one trend you shouldnt skip trying. I spotted the saree inspired jumpsuit on runway at a payal singhal show and  i just loved this super modern twist to the sari.
